Installing Mimik's Edge Engine

Objective

The objective of this step is to install Mimik's Edge Engine in the Katacoda Interative Learning environment and get it up and running

Steps

Step 1: Click the command below to download the Edge Engine for Ubuntu using curl

curl -L https://github.com/mimikgit/edgeSDK/releases/download/v2.2.1/edgeSDK-ubuntu-setup-v2.2.1.tar --output mimik.tar

Step 2: Create the mimik working directory:

mkdir mimik

Step 3: Move the tar file to the Mimik working directory

mv mimik.tar ./mimik/mimik.tar

Step 4: Navigate to the working directory:

cd mimik

Step 5: Decompress the tar file the contains the code and assets for the Edge Engine.

tar -xvf ./mimik.tar

Step 6: Start the Edge Engine

./install_edgeservice.sh

You'll get the following output:

Created symlink /etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants/edge.service → /lib/systemd/system/edge.service.
