Rancher Rodeo

In this scenario we will install the prerequisites for Rancher server, then install Rancher server on the node.

That Rancher server will then be used to create a single node Kubernetes cluster on another node.

Congratulations

Congraulations! You now have run a Rancher server and used it to create a Kubernetes cluster. To continue your learning checkout the Rancher Documentation. You should also join the Rancher Slack Workspace and the Rancher Forums

Install a Single Node Rancher Server

Step 1 of 3

Install Docker

Docker installation can vary based on distribution. Rancher has a repository with scripts, which in many distributions can identify the distribution and install Docker according to that distribution's best practices.

To install docker using the latest version of Docker 18.09 you can run this script.

The default ubuntu image in katacoda contains Docker. We can skip this step. Click Continue.

curl -s https://releases.rancher.com/install-docker/18.09.sh | sudo sh
