The transformation underway in the Pet Clinic has not gone un-noticed. Charlie the CEO of the Universal Imports group of companies having sponsored the pilot is keen to see the learnings applied in the other companies in the Universal Imports group. He expects to see similar positive results in those companies.
Charlie calls a meeting inviting Paulo, Brenda, Santhosh and Chun from the Pet Clinic transformation team 🐱🐶🐉🐭🐹🐰, Adriana an Architect from Ingen the group's Space Exploration Company 🌍🚀✨🚀💫🚀💥🚀🌍 and Pennyworth a Project Manager from The Daily Mentioner the group's national newspaper 📰📰📰.
The purpose of the meeting is to brief Adriana and Pennyworth on the Pet Clinic transformation with a view to having them champion similar transformation efforts in Ingen and The Daily Mentioner respectively.
One of the main outcomes from the meeting was the general agreement of the Pet Clinic team of the important role VSM played in the transformation.
VSM was used to apply Lean principles to a relatively complex development environment. With Chun's coaching, VSM enabled the Pet Clinic team to document, analyze, and improve the processes involved in the delivery of the Pet Clinic application for the teams' customers in the business. VSM helped the Pet Clinic team to identify and eliminate waste in their processes.
Adriana and Pennyworth, having heard from Paulo, Brenda and Santhosh of the benefits accruing from the Pet Clinic transformation are keen to leverage some of the learnings, both positive and negative, from it but request some help getting started with VSM.
Paulo assures them the Pet Clinic team had similar challenges when they started their transformation. He recommends that Chun run a workshop on VSM for a few key stakeholders from Ingen and The Daily Mentioner to help kick start their respective DevOps transformations.
Charlie, excited about the potential synergies across the Universal Imports group, agrees to sponsor the workshop.
