kustomize lets you customize raw, template-free YAML files for multiple purposes, leaving the original YAML untouched and usable as is.

In this scenario, you will deploy the Kustomize Hello World example and learn you can apply it to your own applications.

Kompose is a tool to help users familiar with docker-compose move to Kubernetes. It takes a Docker Compose file and translates it into Kubernetes resources. More details can be found at http://kompose.io/

Step 1 - Install

kustomize is deployed as a binary onto a client. To install kustomize on Katacoda, run the command curl -L https://github.com/kubernetes-sigs/kustomize/releases/download/v1.0.2/kustomize_1.0.2_linux_amd64 -o /usr/bin/kustomize && chmod +x /usr/bin/kustomize
